Minimally Invasive Treatment for Knee Cartilage Injuries

This is a 16 year-old soccer player who sustained an injury to his left knee. During arthroscopic assessment there was a full thickness displaced cartilage injury to the outer femoral chondyle.

Initial treatment was consistent with arthroscopic reduction of the osteo-chondral (boney cartilage) fragment to its original site.

K-wires were then used to hold the fragment in place.

Bio-absorbable nails were then used arthroscopically to secure the reduction of the fragment.

Final arthroscopic assessment of the reduced osteo-chondral fragment showing anatomic reduction.
